Thanasis Polykandriotis for an appearance in Symi
On Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 20:30, we welcome with great joy and honor one of the most important Greek composers and bouzouki soloist, Thanasis Polykandriotis.
The well-known composer along with his four-member orchestra, singer Christina Michalaki and his favorite bouzouki will travel the audience to the fascinating world of Greek repertoire. The evening, entitled “In the moonlight”, is inspired by the song “Stou feggariou tin agkalia” by Thanasis Polykandriotis, with lyrics by Ifigenia Giannopoulou. The program includes songs by Manolis Vamvakaris and Vassilis Tsitsanis, to Manos Hadjidakis, Manolis Chiotis and George Zambetas. Of course, classic hits by the composer himself will be heard, such as the now classic “Ta pires ola”, while a special note in the evening will be given by the improvisations with the bouzouki, the well-known “taximia”.
