Thanasis Polykandriotis in “Pallas”
On January 27, 1999, the ERT Music Ensembles and the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra held a special concert at the Pallas entitled “Folk Instruments with a Large Orchestra”. The soloist on the bouzouki was Thanasis Polykandriotis and on the santouri Angelina Tsatseva. The orchestra was conducted by Lisa Xanthopoulou.
In the first part of the concert, the “Slavic dance no. 8 “in a minor minor (no. 46) by Antonin Dvorak and the” Concerto for santouri and string orchestra no. 3 “by Dimitri Smolsky. In the second part, Thanasis Polykandriotis, together with the orchestra, presented the “9 Hungarian dances” by Johannes Brahms (no. 5, 4, 11, 1, 21, 16, 7, 9, 8) adapted for bouzouki and orchestra. Shortly before the end, Thanasis Polykandriotis invited the audience to sing softly together with the musicians, the melody of “Minor of Dawn” by Spyros Peristeri and Minos Matsa…
