Thanasis Polykandriotis and Katerina Dinou, First performances
For the first time on the stage of the Stavros tou Notou, the great composer and bouzouki soloist
They first met in Harama, Kaisariani, two decades ago. The young Katerina Dinou with her baglamadaki, and Thanasis Polykandriotis then collaborated on a purely popular program. Twenty years later, the teacher and the student meet again on the stage of Stavros tou Notou to perform first performances from the discography in which Thanasis Polykandriotis has given his mark with his plays, but also modern sounds specially adapted for the performance. The title of the performances First Performances is symbolic as Thanasis Polykandriotis was the bouzouki soloist on the historic album “Stavros tou Notou” released by LYRA in the fall of 1979. For the first time in his music career, the composer will appear on the stage of Stavros tou Notou and for this reason he felt the need to start his program with the song of the same name. As he states: “Thanos Mikroutsikos called me to play on a new album and I went quietly to play his classic songs. I never imagined that it would be a work in Kavvadia poetry that wanted a completely different approach from me and my bouzouki. The result proved us right both me and the composer and I feel proud that this historic work is one of my first performances. «Among the first performances that will be heard on October 20 and 27 on the stage of Stavros tou Notou, are the Zeibekiko of Evdokia by Manos Loizos, the Athanasia of Manos Hadjidakis, to Makri Zeibekiko tou Nikou.
According to Thanasis Polykandriotis, Katerina Dinou, singer and musician, can sing everything and make it her own in a unique way. In addition to the tribute to the great successes of the composer, such as, Teleiosame loipon, Tie kana gia parti mou, we will hear for the first time a new song by Thanasis Polykandriotis with lyrics by Katerina Dinou entitled The Organ. A special moment of the show is improvisations and taxims when the bouzouki will meet Johannes Brahms. A musical innovation that Polykandriotis has become accustomed to with the collaboration of our folk instrument with symphonic orchestras. Katerina Dinou will perform, among others, songs by Machairitsas, Mikroutsikos, Kraounakis.
