The bouzouki is part of the teaching at the Athens Conservatory by Thanasis Polykandriotis and his collaborators.
From September 1, 2014, tune in to the site of the Athens Conservatory www.odeionathinon.gr for registrations and details regarding the learning of Greek folk instruments.
Three-string, four-string, tzouras, baglamas and folk guitar, in technical, skillful, theoretical and ethnomusicological elements.
“Training in popular, traditional musical instruments is lacking in our country because no one has taken the matter seriously up to now. The struggle for better music education is sizeable and difficult, but not impossible. I consider it a great honor to have been selected to teach at the first institution of Greece, as well as a huge challenge and immense responsibility. I believe students of the Athens Conservatoire will embrace the bouzouki. Greece has a tradition and memories and we must preserve them and spread them from generation to generation so that our popular culture stays alive.”
